The workshop will take place at the University Hospital, whereas the Helmholtz Institute provides the location for the tutorials.

Since its foundation in the year 1971 the Helmholtz - Institute for Biomedical Engineering as an institute of RWTH Aachen University has been acting as a bridge between the faculties of natural sciences and engineering and the medical disciplines. In 2002 the Institute was restructured fundamentally and set up as a faculty spanning consortium. The new Helmholtz – Institute for Biomedical Engineering is now being sustained by the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Sciences and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the Faculty of Medicine.

The University Hospital Aachen (UKA) combines all mechanisms of supplying the patient, the entire medical faculty and the dentistry. In this enormous building, there is also enough space for the interdisciplinary research of engineers, scientists and physicians. Actually, 59 professors, 824 scientific assistants and 4347 non-scientific employees in 33 clinical departments work together in 21 institutes under the administration of the UKA.
The implementation of the idea to unify teaching, research and medical care is unique in Germany. Since the foundation of the clinical complex in the year 1984, almost all institutions of the Faculty of Medicine are located in this building.

As social event of BSN 2007 we will arrange a dinner in the Coronation Hall - the prestigious almost 1,000 square metres large Coronation Hall inside the magnificent Aachen Gothic town hall.

In the early 14th century, the townspeople of Aachen took over the ruined palace of Charlemagne. On its foundation they built the gothic town hall, which was converted into a baroque building in the 17th and 18th centuries. The town hall was seriously damaged in the two fires of 1656 and 1883. 50 statues of German rulers adorn the north facade; 31 of the kings represented were crowned in Aachen.

The Coronation Hall with its famous Rethel frescoes dating from the 19th century and copies of the Imperial Crown Jewels as well as the gothic and baroque furniture of the building is situated inside the town hall.
